Something is missing in these signs. Have you noticed?

Its’s so subtle but could be very important at times. You can click to make it bigger.

The answer is “The signs don’t say which direction is ‘Oedo line’ or ‘Asakusa line’ in English”.

In Tokyo, multiple railway or subway lines are sometimes crossed on one stations.

Oedo Line and Asakusa Line’s Kuramae stations are pretty close to each other.

The 2 Kuramae stations shared the same name.

However, the 2 stations are not connected in the underground.

Passengers need to go to the ground level and walk for a while to transfer to the other line.

I sometime find even Japanese person got lost while transferring.

The other day, I found these signs and I was surprised.

Non-Japanese readers will be confused which directions they should go.

English notation on public signs should be carefully checked

as more foreign visitors are coming to Japan.

We should build an environment that is easy for both Japanese and non-Japanese to get around easily.
