I’m going to the U.S. to research the employment system for people with disabilities.
However I don’t think I have enough knowledge of this field.
What I have is my job hunting & career experience and the knowledge I got from my previous job, improving working environment for employees with disabilities.
My research sponsor, DUSKIN AINOWA Foundation, told me that I should have the basic information about people with disabilities of Japan before going to the U.S, or I won’t be able to share anything with professors over there.
Therefore, since last month, I have visited people who have researched or worked on improving employment of people with disabilities for long time.
I got to know that things I knew were just a little bit of a huge world.
I have been thinking that “The employment system for people with disabilities in the U.S. is way better than Japanese one.”
But, in terms of policies and services supporting people with disabilities, Japan’s policy is more well developed.
On the other hand, the U.S. has so many different methods for vocational rehabilitations which Japan really want to introduce to people with impairments in Japan after customizing and localizing them.
I’m so excited to see a whole new world!
I believe I will find many interesting things in the U.S. as well.
I will work hard on preparation before leaving Japan!
