The hotel I stayed in San Diego in March is “The Sofia Hotel.” I chose this hotel because of its location, walking distance to the conference palace where I attended, also its decent price. As I requested, the hotel assigned me to an ADA room which is wheelchair accessible room, so I’m going to introduce the room’s facilities!
The room has a living room and bed room. It is too big to stay for 1 person.
The bathroom is big enough for a Moon Rider (wheelchair user) to turn around. The door is sliding door, which is easy to use for Moon Riders.
Shower room is equipped with a roll-in shower and a adjustable shower head.
Good quantity and quality of amenity.
The room has 2 beds which can accommodate 4 people.
Microwave and fridge are available and they are easy to reach by Moon Riders.
The light switches are placed at a lower height so that Moon Riders can reach them easily. The hook for bath towels is also placed at a lower position.
There are 2 points that I think need to be improved!
1) The hanger position is too high to reach for Moon Riders in all closets. Impossible to use unless a guest can stand up.
2) The bottles of water were placed too high to reach on the 1st day.
The neighborhood of hotel have many cafes and restaurants, so you don’t need to worry about a place to eat during your stay. Within walking distance, you can access to Little Italy, Unconditional Surrender, USS Midway Museum and other tourist spots. If you like shopping, you can take the trolley that I have introduced in this blog, and go to Fashion Valley very easily.
