Now we have wonderful news to share with you. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019d welcomed a baby girl, Emma, to our family in May! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her kicking was very strong when she was in my belly. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although she is only 1 month old, we find she is very powerful and energetic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s tough to do breast-feeding every 3 hours but it was all worthy when I see her cute and smiley face. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We deeply love her and look forward to bringing her up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11078\" src=\"https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Emma-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3612\" height=\"2704\" srcset=\"https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Emma-1-1.jpg 3612w, https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Emma-1-1-500x374.jpg 500w, https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Emma-1-1-1024x767.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Emma-1-1-600x449.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 3612px) 100vw, 3612px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the pregnancy period, both I and our baby were fine. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the doctors were very concerned about how to deliver the baby. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The doctors could not decide whether to perform either vaginal delivery or c-section because of my disability, which was caused by spinal cord damages. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eventually, I had to hospitalize for 10 days before the due date and was advised to wait for a labor pain and try vaginal delivery first. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the baby didn\u2019t come down enough even until the due date (maybe she just wanted to stay inside. haha.).\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, the doctor decided to do c-section finally. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C-section requires anesthesia, obviously. There are several types of anesthesia for c-section delivery. The doctor informed us that he may adopt either epidural analgesia* or general anesthesia, depending on how my body, specifically my spinal cord, reacts to the medication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Epidural analgesia is more common for c-section labor delivery in Japan, but the doctor concerned as it requires to put anesthesia medication near my spinal cord, where my disability is related. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the exact cause to my disability is still unknown, the doctor wasn\u2019t sure if epidural analgesia would work on my body. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, I was explained that general anesthesia could bring more potential risks to our baby. (General anesthesia would put both me and the baby asleep, and a doctor needs to help the baby to breathe, after she leaves my womb, until she is awake and breathe by herself.) <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The doctor kept discussing with other doctors from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anesthesiology and Pediatrics, and we all agreed that we try <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">epidural analgesia first, and if it doesn\u2019t work, the doctors would change general anesthesia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was worried how it goes, but thankfully local anesthesia worked well. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My delivery took about only 1 hour after I entered the surgery room. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11079\" src=\"https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC09945.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"883\" srcset=\"https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC09945.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC09945-500x276.jpg 500w, https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC09945-1024x565.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/moonrider7.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DSC09945-600x331.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the delivery day, I needed to lay down on the bed with a lot of cords (monitor, drip etc.). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the second day, the baby Emma came to my room and I started taking care of her. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the wound from c-section still hurt, I repeatedly held her, gave breastfeeding, changed her diaper when she cried. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While doing so, amazingly and surprisingly, the pain of the wound did not get worse but only got better and I gradually recovered and was able to move my body little by little. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now 1 month has passed since the delivery. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I don\u2019t feel any pain from the surgery and I can move my body like before my pregnancy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jeff and I have been enjoying a great time with Emma and working hard everyday to care for and love our baby girl. My mother also came to Tokyo to support this delivery. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once we settle down after the busiest period with Emma, we\u2019d like to share stories about maternity life and raising a child in wheelchair.
