\u00a0In Japan, if you have an ID booklet for person with disability, you can get\u00a0 tickets with discounts in many commercial facilities.<\/div>\n

For example, you can get a movie ticket at half price, you don\u2019t need to pay at many museums with the ID. <\/span><\/p>\n

The discounted price applies not only for a person with disabilities, but also a person who goes with the person with disabilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u00a0can also enjoy at many popular theme parks like Universal Studios Japan, Toshimaen, Nagashima Spa Land, and Shima Spain Village with\u00a0the\u00a0discounted price..\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Tokyo Disney Land (TDL), the most popular theme park in Japan, doesn\u2019t have discount tickets for people with disabilities. <\/span><\/p>\n

I wonder why. <\/span><\/p>\n

I can easily get to\u00a0know the answer if I Google it, but I wanted to think and come up with my own hypotheses first.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the first place, why do many theme parks offer the discount ticket for people with disabilities?<\/span><\/p>\n

What I got soon in my mind was that the majority of the disabled people earn money below the average of all people\u2019s income<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, there should be more reasons. <\/span><\/p>\n

I kept thinking and got the idea that they offer discount because some facilities are not friendly to disabled people<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

If my hypotheses are right, why doesn\u2019t\u00a0TDL offer the discount ticket for people with disabilities? <\/span><\/p>\n

I know some attractions don\u2019t allow a wheelchair user to take due to safety reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then I thought,<\/span><\/p>\n

Disney Land is originally from the U.S. In the country, people think \u201cequality\u201d is very important. <\/span><\/p>\n

People with disability are supported reasonably, but not given special treatment usually. <\/span><\/p>\n

Even at school or work place, they are evaluated equally. <\/span><\/p>\n

It sounds great because you won\u2019t be discriminated. <\/span><\/p>\n

But if you really get used to the Japanese environment for people with disabilities, you would feel that the environment in the U.S. is very strict by contrast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I wonder if the thought of \u201cequality\u201d influences the ticket price at TDL. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course TDL has some attractions which can\u2019t accept wheelchair users. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, non-disabled people also can\u2019t see, buy, ride anytime they want to in there. <\/span><\/p>\n

All guests are equal. Everyone has something they can do, something they cannot do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another\u00a0hypotheses I came up. <\/span><\/p>\n

TDL\u00a0doesn\u2019t offer the discount ticket because they\u00a0have pride or just promises to make the disabled people enjoy at the park equally even if some attractions are not accessible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the hypotheses, I called Tokyo Disney Resort information center directly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The answer was,<\/span><\/p>\n

We offer the system and service which both non-disabled and disabled people can enjoy, and keep improving them every single day. <\/span><\/p>\n

That is why we don\u2019t offer the discount ticket for the disabled people.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

My hypotheses are not too bad. Yay!<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I got to know 2 types of reasons of not offering discount for people with disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

1) They just don\u2019t know or don\u2019t care about the disabled guests.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) They care and work hard on improving for the disabled guests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Japan, type 1) is majority. <\/span><\/p>\n

I think more people can enjoy with the thought of 2) than 1). <\/span><\/p>\n

Only discount and no improvement cannot solve anything. <\/span><\/p>\n
