Hi, it’s Mizuki!<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u00a0have been visiting companies and interviewing them\u00a0 to understand their policy of employment for people with disabilities. This is my research theme I will start in the US soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

You know what\u2026! I had an wonderful opportunity to visit Google Japan yesterday!<\/span><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

I was very interested in the company for a long time, but I didn\u2019t know how to approach without any connections.<\/span><\/p>\n

After thinking for a while\u2026, \u201cI should make a connection by myself if I don\u2019t have one!\u201d I figured out. haha.<\/span><\/p>\n

I used LinkedIn which is like Facebook for for business people and with more professional contents.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I searched people working for Google Japan and sent a message with explanation of my situation and request.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then\u2026I got a reply from one of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

(*\uff9f\u0414\uff9f*) oh\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We exchanged a few messages and she arranged a meeting with me by the next morning. I was so impressed by her prompt actions!<\/span><\/p>\n

She said she doesn\u2019t usually check LinkedIn, but checked my message by chance. This must be fate.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is awesome! My dream came true with 90% of luck and 10% of my hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n

(Though, this is a really rare case. Even I receive a message once in a while in LinkedIn, but usually don\u2019t reply at all. <\/span><\/p>\n

People who work for a major company would get tons of messages like I sent. <\/span><\/p>\n

You might probably take the same action after reading my post. <\/span><\/p>\n

However please know that it is \u201cnormal\u201d that you will not get a reply from them.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, I visited Google Japan and interviewed about the employment for people with disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

What I am impressed the most was that the company, leading the world, has a totally different point of view regarding people with disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Google Japan considers what they can do not only for all people with disabilities, not limited to their own employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project I was really impressed is\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u30fc intern program only for people with disabilities \u30fc\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Any disabled people who meets certain conditions by Google Japan can apply for it. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you get an opportunity, you can work as intern up to 1 year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the intern program, each person is assigned to a department\/team depending on what kind of skill he\/she wants to develop, and set a goal with a manager. <\/span><\/p>\n

The trainee will then work hard to achieve the goal. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After the internship, trainees will have a chance to continue working at Google Japan if\u00a0 their skills and experience matches what the company requires. <\/span><\/p>\n

Of course they can go to another company where their skill can be well used, too.<\/p>\n

The main purpose of this program is to improve skills of people with disabilities in the society, and make more people work in various occupations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Google Japan thinks seriously how they can uses their resources for the \u201csociety\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the disabled people who really want to change, I highly recommend them to apply for this program. Not only improving a skill, you will get more confidence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I would definitely apply for this If I am not going to the US. I\u2019m so jealous people who can do this\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end, I heard a company slogan of Google, \u201cDo the right thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the employees told that <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to \u201cdo the right thing\u201d for people with disabilities.<\/strong>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Google Japan is really cool.<\/span><\/p>\n

I deeply wish to encourage more and more companies which can take actions to make a better society, not only for their own interests nor profit.<\/span><\/p>\n
