Hi guys, it\u2019s Mizuki!<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been 3 weeks since I moved in this apartment. <\/span><\/p>\n

For people interested in living in an apartment by wheelchair in the States, I\u2019m going to share my life in here. <\/span><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s topic is \u201claundry\u201d!<\/span><\/p>\n


In general speaking, if you live in an apartment in Japan, you need to buy a laundry (+ dryer) by yourself and set it in your room. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, in my apartment in Syracuse, some washer and dryer machines are available on each floor. <\/span><\/p>\n

You can pay to use them, like those in launderette. <\/span><\/p>\n

The price here: washer machine is 1.75 USD, dryer machine is 1.25USD. If you use both, it costs 3USD = 360JPY-ish.<\/span><\/p>\n

I used to do laundry almost everyday in Japan, but in here I do it 2 times a week. <\/span><\/p>\n

To save money, I would like to use it less. <\/span><\/p>\n

However the clothes won\u2019t be dried enough if I put too much in the machine\u2026As a result, I may need to use 2 dryer machines in the end\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Both washer and dryer machines are drum type so the height is reasonable for a wheelchair user to use. <\/span><\/p>\n

I recommend to buy a landscape shape basket so that you can easily carry the clothes on your lap with it. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is kind of hard to see where to put the detergent from the height of a wheelchair user. <\/span><\/p>\n

I think it is probably ok to put detergent on the left side since this machine has the space for it on the left.<\/span><\/p>\n

Washing will be done for 30 mins.<\/span><\/p>\n

You take the clothes out and put them in a dryer machine. <\/span><\/p>\n

Drying takes 1 hour to be finished.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n


I haven\u2019t experienced in this apartment yet, though when I was a student in university of Wisconsin, someone took my clothes out when I didn\u2019t pick up right after dryer was done. hahaha. <\/span><\/p>\n

Well, the machines are shared with other people, so we should take them out as soon as finished.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
