We took a nice walk to Sensoji, as known as Asakusa Temple, this Sunday evening.

Sensoji is one of the most famous temples in Japan.

It is only 10-minute walk away from where we live! How lucky we are!

(This is always the first place that comes to our mind when giving tour to our foreign friends visiting Japan.)

Most of the temples and shrines in Japan are still few steps away from “barrier free access”.

But it is very accessible in Sensoji. Ramps and elevators are available!

Yahooooo!(*

However, it is recommended that moon riders (wheelchair users) should pay attention to the time when visiting.

The main temple is closed around 5pm.

After 5pm, the only access to donation box is stairs!

That was a very shocking news to us. (We never really pay attention to that until last night.)

We even checked the elevator.

The elevator at the main temple is in operation from 9am to 4pm.

But it was still in operation last night when we were there around 6pm.

We were very excited.

Yahooooo!(*

But we were very shocked at the moment when we exited the elevator.

There were fences blocking the way from elevator to the donation box.

What was that for?!?!?!?!?!

It doesn’t make sense to us at all that the elevator was in operation but there were fences blocking people using elevator?

Maybe they should change the sign from “in operation from 9am to 4pm” to “accessible from 9am to 4pm.” It would be less confusing.

By the way, when the main temple is open, that elevator will take you to the main temple.

It might be a little bit frustrating to go to the main temple since there are always so many people.

But, trust me, you really have to check it out with your own eyes. You will not regret it! It is worthy.

It is highly recommended to visit Sensoji for moon riders (wheelchair users).
